Chapter 85: The Mansions Of The Stars (سورة البروج)

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ

By the sky containing great stars

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:1]

وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ

And [by] the promised Day

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:2]

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ

And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:3]

قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الأُخْدُودِ

Cursed were the companions of the trench

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:4]

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ

[Containing] the fire full of fuel,

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:5]

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ

When they were sitting near it

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:6]

وَهُمْ عَلَى مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ

And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:7]

وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ

And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah , the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:8]

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah , over all things, is Witness.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:9]

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ

Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:10]

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:11]

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:12]

إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ

Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:13]

الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ

And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:14]

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ

Honorable Owner of the Throne,

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:15]

فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ

Effecter of what He intends.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:16]

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ

Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:17]

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ

[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud?

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:18]

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ

But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:19]

وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ

While Allah encompasses them from behind.

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:20]

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ

But this is an honored Qur'an

[The Mansions Of The Stars 85:21]

فيِ لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ

[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.
