Chapter 78: The Tidings (ÓæÑÉ ÇáäÈÃ)

ÈöÓúãö Çááøóåö ÇáÑøóÍúãóäö ÇáÑøóÍöíãö
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Úóãøó íóÊóÓóÇÁóáõæäó

About what are they asking one another?

[The Tidings 78:1]

Úóäú ÇáäøóÈóÅö ÇáúÚóÙöíãö

About the great news -

[The Tidings 78:2]

ÇáøóÐöí åõãú Ýöíåö ãõÎúÊóáöÝõæäó

That over which they are in disagreement.

[The Tidings 78:3]

ßóáÇøó ÓóíóÚúáóãõæäó

No! They are going to know.

[The Tidings 78:4]

Ëõãøó ßóáÇøó ÓóíóÚúáóãõæäó

Then, no! They are going to know.

[The Tidings 78:5]

Ãóáóãú äóÌúÚóáö ÇáÃóÑúÖó ãöåóÇÏðÇ

Have We not made the earth a resting place?

[The Tidings 78:6]

æóÇáúÌöÈóÇáó ÃóæúÊóÇÏðÇ

And the mountains as stakes?

[The Tidings 78:7]

æóÎóáóÞúäóÇßõãú ÃóÒúæóÇÌðÇ

And We created you in pairs

[The Tidings 78:8]

æóÌóÚóáúäóÇ äóæúãóßõãú ÓõÈóÇÊðÇ

And made your sleep [a means for] rest

[The Tidings 78:9]

æóÌóÚóáúäóÇ Çááøóíúáó áöÈóÇÓðÇ

And made the night as clothing

[The Tidings 78:10]

æóÌóÚóáúäóÇ ÇáäøóåóÇÑó ãóÚóÇÔðÇ

And made the day for livelihood

[The Tidings 78:11]

æóÈóäóíúäóÇ ÝóæúÞóßõãú ÓóÈúÚðÇ ÔöÏóÇÏðÇ

And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]

[The Tidings 78:12]

æóÌóÚóáúäóÇ ÓöÑóÇÌðÇ æóåøóÇÌðÇ

And made [therein] a burning lamp

[The Tidings 78:13]

æóÃóäÒóáúäóÇ ãöäó ÇáúãõÚúÕöÑóÇÊö ãóÇÁð ËóÌøóÇÌðÇ

And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water

[The Tidings 78:14]

áöäõÎúÑöÌó Èöåö ÍóÈøðÇ æóäóÈóÇÊðÇ

That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation

[The Tidings 78:15]

æóÌóäøóÇÊò ÃóáúÝóÇÝðÇ

And gardens of entwined growth.

[The Tidings 78:16]

Åöäøó íóæúãó ÇáúÝóÕúáö ßóÇäó ãöíÞóÇÊðÇ

Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -

[The Tidings 78:17]

íóæúãó íõäÝóÎõ Ýöí ÇáÕøõæÑö ÝóÊóÃúÊõæäó ÃóÝúæóÇÌðÇ

The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

[The Tidings 78:18]

æóÝõÊöÍóÊö ÇáÓøóãóÇÁõ ÝóßóÇäóÊú ÃóÈúæóÇÈðÇ

And the heaven is opened and will become gateways

[The Tidings 78:19]

æóÓõíøöÑóÊö ÇáúÌöÈóÇáõ ÝóßóÇäóÊú ÓóÑóÇÈðÇ

And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

[The Tidings 78:20]

Åöäøó Ìóåóäøóãó ßóÇäóÊú ãöÑúÕóÇÏðÇ

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

[The Tidings 78:21]

áöáúØøóÇÛöíäó ãóÂÈðÇ

For the transgressors, a place of return,

[The Tidings 78:22]

áÇóÈöËöíäó ÝöíåóÇ ÃóÍúÞóÇÈðÇ

In which they will remain for ages [unending].

[The Tidings 78:23]

áÇó íóÐõæÞõæäó ÝöíåóÇ ÈóÑúÏðÇ æóáÇó ÔóÑóÇÈðÇ

They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink

[The Tidings 78:24]

ÅöáÇøó ÍóãöíãðÇ æóÛóÓøóÇÞðÇ

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

[The Tidings 78:25]

ÌóÒóÇÁð æöÝóÇÞðÇ

An appropriate recompense.

[The Tidings 78:26]

Åöäøóåõãú ßóÇäõæÇ áÇó íóÑúÌõæäó ÍöÓóÇÈðÇ

Indeed, they were not expecting an account

[The Tidings 78:27]

æóßóÐøóÈõæÇ ÈöÂíóÇÊöäóÇ ßöÐøóÇÈðÇ

And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

[The Tidings 78:28]

æóßõáøó ÔóíúÁò ÃóÍúÕóíúäóÇåõ ßöÊóÇÈðÇ

But all things We have enumerated in writing.

[The Tidings 78:29]

ÝóÐõæÞõæÇ Ýóáóäú äóÒöíÏóßõãú ÅöáÇøó ÚóÐóÇÈðÇ

"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."

[The Tidings 78:30]

Åöäøó áöáúãõÊøóÞöíäó ãóÝóÇÒðÇ

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment -

[The Tidings 78:31]

ÍóÏóÇÆöÞó æóÃóÚúäóÇÈðÇ

Gardens and grapevines

[The Tidings 78:32]

æóßóæóÇÚöÈó ÃóÊúÑóÇÈðÇ

And full-breasted [companions] of equal age

[The Tidings 78:33]

æóßóÃúÓðÇ ÏöåóÇÞðÇ

And a full cup.

[The Tidings 78:34]

áÇó íóÓúãóÚõæäó ÝöíåóÇ áóÛúæðÇ æóáÇó ßöÐøóÇÈðÇ

No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -

[The Tidings 78:35]

ÌóÒóÇÁð ãöäú ÑóÈøößó ÚóØóÇÁð ÍöÓóÇÈðÇ

[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,

[The Tidings 78:36]

ÑóÈøö ÇáÓøóãóÇæóÇÊö æóÇáÃóÑúÖö æóãóÇ ÈóíúäóåõãóÇ ÇáÑøóÍúãóäö áÇó íóãúáößõæäó ãöäúåõ ÎöØóÇÈðÇ

[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.

[The Tidings 78:37]

íóæúãó íóÞõæãõ ÇáÑøõæÍõ æóÇáúãóáÇóÆößóÉõ ÕóÝøðÇ áÇó íóÊóßóáøóãõæäó ÅöáÇøó ãóäú ÃóÐöäó áóåõ ÇáÑøóÍúãóäõ æóÞóÇáó ÕóæóÇÈðÇ

The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

[The Tidings 78:38]

Ðóáößó Çáúíóæúãõ ÇáúÍóÞøõ Ýóãóäú ÔóÇÁó ÇÊøóÎóÐó Åöáóì ÑóÈøöåö ãóÂÈðÇ

That is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.

[The Tidings 78:39]

ÅöäøóÇ ÃóäÐóÑúäóÇßõãú ÚóÐóÇÈðÇ ÞóÑöíÈðÇ íóæúãó íóäÙõÑõ ÇáúãóÑúÁõ ãóÇ ÞóÏøóãóÊú íóÏóÇåõ æóíóÞõæáõ ÇáúßóÇÝöÑõ íóÇáóíúÊóäöí ßõäÊõ ÊõÑóÇÈðÇ

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"
